Music Ministry at Tinkling Spring

Chancel Choir to sing at Carnegie Hall

Press Release

It is the pleasure of the Director of Music Ministries to announce that the Chancel Choir has been invited by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) to sing Joseph Martin's Appalachian Winter at Carnegie Hall in New York this November. The work will be conducted by Mr. Joseph Martin and accompanied by Grammy-nominated Bluegrass group Dailey & Vincent. This is such an exciting time for our choir!!!

Chilcott's mighty setting of words from the Gospel of St John is a dramatic yet optimistic retelling of the Passiontide story. As with Bach's great Passion settings, the role of the Evangelist is taken by the tenor soloist, who provides a melodious narrative throughout the work, in arioso style. The words of Jesus and Pilate are performed by solo baritones. Within the narrative, the SATB chorus becomes a crowd or a group of soldiers, commenting on the story in short outbursts, although the larger role of the choir is to perform the four meditations and five hymns that support the story. For the meditations two of which include soprano solos Chilcott has selected English poems from the 13th to the early 17th centuries. The five well known hymn texts are set to new, original melodies, which are also intended for use by the congregation. from www.jwpepper.com  Printable Flyer Flyer with Beige Background

The CHANCEL CHOIR serves each week during the fall, winter, and spring months at our 11:00 a.m. worship service. A special presentation is given for "Music Sunday" in the fall, and during the Advent and Lenten seasons as well. These special presentations include chamber instrumental ensembles with our combined choirs. Our members, who vary in age, occupations, and interests, represent a cross section of our church.  While the ability to read music is not required to be a part of the group, spiritual gifts of music, musicality, and learning are emphasized along with serving our Lord and singing His praises!

The Worship Arts Camp at Tinkling Spring will work with children to help develop the music and creative art talents that dwell within each child.  Children will explore ways their talents can serve God and be His hands here on earth.  This will be a learning experience where each child will have an opportunity to grow in their faith through fun, games, music and creative arts.

Worship Arts Camp 2016:

Thanks to Glenn Martin, Olivia Quickel, Brandon Mock, Harriet Thompson, Betsy Coleman, Emma Hunter, and others for making this week possible!

     Tinkling Spring Instrumental Ensemble

The Music Ministry at Tinkling Spring will be starting an Instrumental Ensemble this winter. This ensemble will provide an additional outlet for those who are interested in participating in worship leadership through playing an orchestral or band instrument. Participants should have an intermediate skill level. This will be a wonderful group for those who haven’t played in a while to improve their skills, or younger players who have been playing for a few years. The ensemble will prepare various special music offerings and hymn accompaniments.
